Rain Forest Brown Marble

Rain Forest Brown Marble is a distinctive Indian natural stone celebrated for its warm brown tones and dramatic tree-like veining. Light to medium-dark brown shades form the background, while deep brown and soft white veins branch organically across the surface, creating patterns reminiscent of roots, trees and a dense rainforest canopy. Quarried in Rajasthan, India, it is also widely known as Bidasar Brown Marble, Rainforest Brown, Cafe Forest Marble and Forest Brown Marble. Although commercially sold as marble, the stone is technically a serpentinite, a metamorphic natural stone valued for its distinctive appearance and durable character.

Its earthy colour palette and expressive natural veining make every slab visually unique, with vein density and movement varying considerably between blocks. This natural variation makes Rain Forest Brown suitable for creating highly individual interiors and architectural features. The stone is especially effective for bookmatched installations, where adjoining slabs create dramatic mirrored patterns across feature walls, statement surfaces and other decorative applications.

LOOK AND FEEL

The stone features light to medium-dark brown shades with strokes of dark brown and light white veins running through the surface. Interwoven, tree-like branching veins of deep brown create a sense of natural movement across each slab — reminiscent of the patterns found in a rainforest canopy.

FEATURES

  • Durability — More durable than many other marble variants, thanks to its serpentinite composition.

  • Finish — Responds well to polishing, which enhances both texture and visual appeal. Also available in honed, tumbled, brushed, leathered, and other finishes.

  • Consistency — Since veining pattern and density vary between blocks, book-matching is often used, where slabs are cut and arranged to create mirror-image pairs for a continuous, flowing pattern.

  • Processing — Natural voids are common in this stone; these are filled with polyester resin before polishing, and a final sealing step keeps the surface shining for years without affecting durability.
